Application Service Provider (ASP) / Software as a Service (SaaS)
An Application Service Provider (ASP) is a company that offers access to information systems and software applications on a “service” basis – i.e., “Software as a Service” (SaaS). MED3OOO offers electronic health records, practice management, third party administration, and other applications on an ASP/SaaS basis. By “leasing” these services from MED3OOO, our clients gain access to advanced applications and support without the up-front costs of purchasing licenses and high-capacity servers, as well as the ongoing costs of maintaining a data center.
The decision to lease services through an ASP/SaaS model, as opposed to purchasing an information system, depends on many factors. The advantages of an ASP/SaaS arrangement include:
- Avoidance of a large initial capital outlay for software licenses, high capacity servers, and the other up-front costs of establishing a data center
- Predictable regular monthly costs
- Scalability, allowing to pay now for the capacity you need now, rather than paying now for the capacity you’ll need at some future time
